How the answer is decided
Your skin's undertone, its depth, how much colour it carries and how far your hair sits from it in lightness are measured from the photo and placed on four scales. Those four readings choose a family; the family chooses the palette. The measuring is on its own page, Colour analysis, measured. This page is about what comes out the other end.
Each family's palette is twelve shades: eight that carry its character and four neutrals to build on. The free read shows you the first 4, which are the family's signature shades and the fastest way to see whether the read holds in your mirror.
Four families, four starting shades each
The line under each family is the rule that assigns it, in plain words. The swatches are the exact four a free read in that family shows.
